Karnataka : Mysuru Dasara fame pachyderm dies

Hassan (Karnataka): Mysuru Dasara famed elephant Arjuna died in a fight with a wild tusker during an elephant capture operation near Yeslur in Sakleshpur on Monday.

Arjuna died, succumbing to stomach injuries he suffered in the beastly fight, according to preliminary reports.

The Forest Department often conducts operations to capture troublesome tuskers in the Sakleshpur, Alur, Belur and Yeslur ranges.

Following the tragedy, the operations have been stopped by the forest department.

Arjuna is famous for carrying 750-kg howdah during the Dasara procession. He did this for eight times until 2019 and stopped doing it after turning 60 years of age.
