Police fully capable of maintaining law and order: Mann

Chandigarh: Two days after completion of over month-long crackdown with the arrest of Amritpal Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday had a meeting with senior officers of Punjab Police and said that the state police was fully capable of maintaining law and order.

After the meeting, Mr Mann said that there was a discussion in detail about the law and order situation in the state.

‘Punjab police is fully capable of maintaining law and order’, he said.

He also said that there was also a discussion about making the police more hi-tech.

Meanwhile, DGP Gaurav Yadav told the media that the Chief Minister appreciated the police for the operation.

DGP asserted that Punjab police won’t let any disruptive forces succeed in their designs.

Replying to a question, Mr Yadav said that the Morinda sacrilege incident was unfortunate. He said that the accused has been arrested adding that the police would deeply investigate the matter.

He said that it was a collective responsibility of all to keep religious places safe and secure.
