Pune: Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has suspended seven police officials for showing negligence in duty related to two incidents of vandalism of vehicles by anti-social elements at Sahakarnagar police station.

Mr Kumar has issued the suspended order to this effect on Thursday night.

The 7 police officials suspended are senior police Inspector Savlaram Salgaonkar, Inspector (crime) Manoj Eknath Shendge, Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Vitthal Shende, Sub-Inspectors Hasan Maqbool Mulani and Maruti Govind Waghmare, and constables Sandeep Jairam Potkule and Vinayak Dattatreya Jambhale.

In the suspension order, the Police Commissioner stated that it was due to the negligence in duty after repeated vandalism of vehicles was occurred in the jurisdiction of Sahakarnagar police station.

As per the report of vandalism of vehicles, around 15 persons got into a fight and vandalised many vehicles, two shops and one office in Aranyeshwar two days ago.

They had also damaged 26 two-wheelers in the current month in Taljai Vasahat, but the officials of concerned police station have failed in preventing repeated incidents of vandalism of vehicles in their areas.

The Sahakarnagar police also had not registered the proper complaint when the victims approached to police station after their vehicle found in damaged conditions.

In the history of Pune police, the CP took the bold decision in suspending seven police officials simultaneously.

The suspended order was issued after report of preliminary investigation conducted by Deputy Commissioner of Police ( DCP crime) Amol Zende over the twin incidents was submitted to Mr Kumar.

The inquiry report conducted by DCP stated that Officer-in-Charge of police station, crime Supervisory Officer and others cops have not taken serious note of the complaint filed by citizens which further tarnished the image of the police force in public.
