Mumbai: Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP), a not-for-profit organisation which is a training and research academy for voluntary activists and elected representatives of the people, launched India’s first twitter-thread competition called ‘#Tweet4Bharat’ on Wednesday.

In an online press conference, RMP Director General Ravindra Sathe said the objective of ‘#Tweet4Bharat’ is to encourage and motivate youngsters to use ‘twitter threads’ to write, discuss and deliberate on important issues of national importance.

He introduced the background of this idea and said, ”Since 1982, as part of its ‘Public Awakening’ mission; RMP has been working to shape the public discourse through seminars and events. The objective of ‘#Tweet4Bharat’ is to encourage and motivate youngsters to use ‘twitter threads’ to write, discuss and deliberate on important issues of national importance.

The topics selected for the competition are National Integration, Social Justice and Gender Equality, he said.

The competition is open to all twitter users and is being conducted in Hindi, English and Marathi.
”It begins on August 1 marking Lokmanya Tilak’s death centenary and will close on August 10,” Mr Sathe added.

Siddharth Kulkarni, a popular twitter user and team member of the Tweet4Bharat, added that ”The twitter-threads will be judged and awarded in three categories namely, Jury Choice (based on content), Twitterati choice (based on popularity) and Creative Presentation award (based on creativity in presentation).”

The winners will be decided by an eminent jury consisting of leaders from various walks of life. The results will be declared on August 12 by 1800 hrs.

Apart from attractive cash prizes, the top 27 winners of #Tweet4Bharat will present their views live at the high-powered Online National Conclave on the pre-Independence Day evening, on August 14.
The winners will also be hosted for a retreat at RMP’s campus near Mumbai.
