Vantaa (Finland): PV Sindhu’s first outing under her new coaching team of Anoop Sridhar and Korea’s Lee Soon Il ended in disappointment as she was knocked out in the opening round of the Arctic Open 2024.

Facing Canada’s Michelle Li, Sindhu struggled to find her rhythm and succumbed to a1 16-21, 10-21 defeat in just 37 minutes.

This marked Sindhu’s first competitive match since her round of 16 exit at the Paris Olympics and the subsequent departure of her former coach, Agus Dwi Santoso.

The world No. 16 was unable to recover from a string of unforced errors, allowing Li, ranked 32nd, to claim just her fourth win over Sindhu in 14 meetings.
