Rajkot: Smriti Mandhana has made history with the fastest century by an India Women’s cricketer in One-Day Internationals (WODIs).

Mandhana reached the three-figure mark in just 70 balls against Ireland here on Wednesday, surpassing the previous record held by Harmanpreet Kaur, who had scored a century in 87 balls against South Africa in Bengaluru in 2024.

Other notable fast centuries for India Women include Harmanpreet’s 90-ball effort against Australia in Derby in 2017, Jemimah Rodrigues’ 90-ball century against Ireland, also at Rajkot in 2025, and Harleen Deol’s 98-ball century against West Indies in Vadodara in 2024.

This century of Mandhana’s brings her to a tie with Charlotte Edwards and Tammy Beaumont, both of whom have 10 centuries in WODIs. The all-time leaders in this category are Meg Lanning, with 15 centuries, and Suzie Bates, who has 13. Following closely behind are Chamari Athapaththu, Edwards, and Nat Sciver-Brunt, each with 9 centuries.

Mandhana’s remarkable achievement reinforces her growing stature in women’s international cricket, as she continues to break new records and set new benchmarks in the format.

Since the start of 2024, Mandhana has been in outstanding form, amassing 996 runs from 16 innings. With an impressive average of 62.25 and a strike rate of 105.06, Mandhana has firmly established herself as one of the most consistent performers in women’s ODIs.

She has scored five centuries and four fifties during this period, with no other batswoman surpassing 700 runs in the same timeframe. Her remarkable consistency continues to set a high standard for women’s cricket.
