A tweet, a few months ago which made the former US President Donald Trump got banned from the social media platform turned out to be informative and factual.

The new study-related data depicts that the weight-adjusted Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and Azithromycin (AZM) increase the survival chances of ventilated COVID-19 patients by 200 percent.

Saint Barnabas conducted the said observation Medical Centre in New Jersey on 255 patients. The study found that cumulative doses of two drugs Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin above a certain level turn out to be effective on COVID-19 patients. The study’s conclusion said, “We found that when the cumulative doses of two drugs, HCQ and AZM, were above a certain level, patients had a survival 2.9 times the other patients.”

The report further adds “By using casual analysis and considering of weight-adjusted cumulative dose, we prove the combined therapy, >3g HCQ and >1g AZM greatly increase survival in Covid patients on IMV and that HCQ cumulative dose >80mg/kg works substantially better. These data do not yet apply to hospitalized patients, not on IMV. Since those with higher doses of HCQ and AZM, we cannot solely attribute the casual effects to HCQ/AZM combination therapy. However, it is likely AZM contributes significantly to this increase in survival rate. Since the higher dose of HCQ/AZM therapy improves survival by nearly 200% in this population, the safety data are moot.”

Notably, Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an anti-inflammatory drug that was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1955 to treat and get rid of malaria. It was also prescribed for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

The FDA initially in the pandemic approved the drug and granted emergency use and authorization (EUA) for the treatment of COVID-19 in March 2020.

A reversal came from FDA soon around June 2020 based on a study of data by the oxford university in the UK that suggested the drug to be ineffective on COVID patients.

Many held their opinion on the study such as Dr. Joseph Mercola, an osteopathic physician gave his opinion in the Epoch times which read “Unfortunately, problems in research methodologies that assess the efficacy and risks of HCQ have left doubts.”

While the contributor at the Epoch Times Roger L Smith argued in favor of Trump saying “the use of HCQ for treatment of COVID-19 have been politicized by the opponents of former President Donald Trump, who advocated the use of the drug.”

Looking back at the previous tweet of then US President Donald Trump which touted the combination of the two drugs to be turning out effective on ventilated Covid patients. But by that time, it earned Trump pushback from medical experts and the white house coronavirus team member Dr. Anthony Fauci himself saying the drug to be ineffective in the treatment of the Chinese virus.

Trump was undoubtedly targeted by the huge media houses across the globe for his tweet on the same. The social media giants restricted and banned his account allegedly accusing his tweet to be misinformative and spreading hatred as they said the account is “spreading misleading and potentially harmful misinformation related to the coronavirus.”

Later in March 2021, the World Health Organization under the chairmanship of Dr. Tedros warned against using the combination against coronavirus citing the information and data to be ineffective.

Since the tweet that Trump posted turned the tables back, many of his conservatives and supporters came out on social media platforms to defend him. The supporters even included the name of Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene who blamed Dr. Fauci openly for a prominent reason for the deaths of many in the US as she wrote “How many people died bc (because) Dr. Fauci said to trust the science and Hydrochloroquine isn’t effective? A new study shows: Hydrochloroquine + Azithromycin therapy at a higher dose improved survival by nearly 200% in ventilated COVID patients. Trump was right.”

Greene even tweeted about a doctor namely Dr. Immanual whose account got suspended as she shared her experience of life-saving information using HCQ with other patients. She demands her Twitter handle to be reinstated shortly.

A rapper and ex- Oxford University student Zuby came out in support of the former President saying “There is so much conflicting information out there.”
