After Hindu temples being attacked in Australia, the incident of the desecration of a Hindu temple in Canada, wherein anti-India and pro-Khalistan slogans were found written on the temple walls, has come to the fore. The Gauri Shankar temple, situated in Ontario’s Brampton, was targeted on Tuesday, and the Hindus living in Canada are exasperated after this incident. As per the Hindus living in Canada, the peace-loving Indian diaspora of Canada pays taxes worth crores of dollars but there is no guarantee of their security and safety.

It has also been alleged by the Hindu community that the anti-India elements get the protection of the police and the officials in Canada. As a result, the Hindus of Canada are feeling increasingly unsafe in the country. And while the mayor, after every such incident, makes statements, but they do not trust the same anymore. The Khalistan supporters in Canada know that no matter whatever crime they commit, no action will be taken against them.

This is the third incident of a Hindu temple being attacked in the last 6 months. Earlier, anti-India slogans were written on the walls of the Vishnu temple in Richmond in July 2022, and on the walls of the Swami Narayan temple in Toronto inn September of the same year. After the crime has been repeated at the Gauri Shankar temple, the Indian Consulate General has asked for the culprits getting arrested. On the other hand, Brampton Mayor, Patrick Brown, ensured the community of quick action on Tuesday itself.

According to the numbers released by the Statistics Department of the Canadian government, it has been found out that there has been a 72% hike in the cases of hate-crimes being committed in the country. And as per another statistic, 2.46 lakh Indians reached Canada as immigrants.
