Vithal Chowdhary, the president of ‘Youth 4 Panun Kashmir’ (Y4PK), which is a prominent Kashmiri Pandit organization, has filed a police complaint against Iltija Mufti for her derogatory and inflammatory tweet against Bhagwan Ram, the Hindu faith, and Hindus.
The complaint has been lodged with the Cyber Crime Cell, Delhi, alleging that the statement made by Mufti is deeply offensive, is aimed at inciting communal discord, and deliberately insults Bhagwan Ram, the Hindu religion, and its followers.
The complaint cites Sections 302, 325, and 323 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 67 of the IT Act.
Roots in Kashmir (RIK), another prominent Kashmiri Pandit organisation has welcomed the action of Y4PK. Amit Raina, spokesperson, RIK, said, ‘Iltija is a habitual offender, and we will provide all possible assistance to Vithal Chowdhary to ensure that Iltija Mufti is booked for her derogatory and inciting statement.’
Youth 4 Panun Kashmir has called on the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly, block the offending content under Section 69A of the IT Act, and initiate stringent legal proceedings against Mufti.
The organization, alongside allies such as Roots in Kashmir, reiterates its commitment to advocating for justice and preserving the sanctity of all religious beliefs in India.
Mufti, in her controversial tweet said, ‘Ram the deity must hang his head in shame watch helplessly as minor Muslim boys are whacked with chappals only because they refuse to chant his name. Hindutva is a disease that afflicted millions of Indians and sullied a God’s name.’
According to Iltija, the daughter of the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, Hindutva is a disease which requires a cure. She reiterated this statement, standing by her comment, while facing backlash for her derogatory comment. She maintains that Hindutva and Hinduism are two different things.
