In the midst of the increasing COVID-19 cases in China, 5 countries have started testing every Chinese traveller for the infection. Other countries doing the same include Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, and Malaysia. The USA is also mulling over solutions to keep a track of travellers arriving in the country from China. From the next week, India too, can make the RTPCR test compulsory for travellers coming in from China. 2% random sampling is being done among other international travellers.

In China, crores of COVID-19 cases have come to the fore in this month after the end of the zero-COVID policy. In the meanwhile, China has also decided to open up its borders from 8th January, 2023. Now, other countries of the world are becoming cautious because of the increasing infection in China. The data being received from China is not transparent, due to which testing and monitoring is crucial.

Experts are apprehensive about a new variant showing up because of the rapid transmission of the virus, and their tension is mounting because of a lack of Chinese data on the infection’s true state and genome sequencing. Travel restrictions have been done away with in China after three long years, as a result of which, there has erupted a tsunami of people wanting to move out. As per a travel site, on Tuesday, the bookings of the flights moving out from China increased by 254%. The highest number of bookings are being made for Singapore, followed by South Korea.
