A new mission has been kicked-off by India in the ongoing ‘Azadi ka Amrit Kaal’, which will focus on taking our very own Hindi language to an international level. This mega-mission has now started off from Fiji, and soon, the central government will be launching a number of projects for the same. Inaugurating the 12th Vishwa Hindi Sammelan in Fiji on Wednesday, External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, said that the era of equating westernization with growth and development is a thing of the past, and many languages which were suppressed during the period of colonization are now being acknowledged internationally.
At the same time, the Education Ministry of Fiji is preparing to make Hindi compulsory till the 12th standard. Till now, the language was compulsory till the 8th standard. Along with this, the number of Hindi teachers will also be increased, and they will be trained by India. Currently, Fiji is facing two problems associated with Hindi; first, Fijian Hindi, and secondly, the lack of Hindi teachers in the country. The pronunciation of Fijian Hindi is similar to how it sounds when a person from the west tries to speak Hindi. And there will be no benefit for the children with such a Hindi.
And because of the same, even parents do not show excitement for the compulsion of learning Hindi. But, the new government of Fiji, understanding the will of the large number of Indians living in the country, has decided to make Hindi compulsory for students to learn till class 12th. As a result, this step will be implemented from the next session. On the other hand, Fijian President, Williame Katonivere, said that Hindi lives in the hearts of the people of Fiji.
