Australia is a major attraction for Indian students who want to study abroad, but students who are studying in the country are facing a lot many challenges now. Along with economic problems, they are also facing physical and mental torture. There is a lack of jobs for students to support themselves in the foreign land.

Navneet Mittal, Vice-President, Asian International Students of Australia, has said that the biggest challenge for the students is finding a home. Universities have limited hostel seats, and if someone does not already know a person in Australia, it is difficult for them to find a home. And if one wishes to rent a room, it requires bonds and paying guarantees, which require a large sum of money. Some students are also harassed by the landlords and if they are forced to vacate the place, the bond amounts are not returned.

The students’ visa too, keeps on hanging like a sword above their heads, as the visa conditions are so stringent that even a small mistake can lead to its cancellation. Many students could not even get a visa because of the strict visa laws.
