Chennai: The Principal Sessions Court on Wednesday reserved its orders for tomorrow on three petitions filed by arrested Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V.Senthilabalaji in a money laundering case and the  Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Principal Sessions Judge Ms Alli will pronounce the orders tomorrow on two petitions filed by the Minister, who was arrested by the ED and remanded in judicial custody and the one filed by the ED.

While one petition challenged his judicial remand and sought to enlarge him on bail, the other plea sought to shift the Minister, who was admitted to the Government hospital after
his arrest early today morning when he complained of chest pain, to a private hospital for bypass surgery after angiogram revealed that there were three blocks in his blood vessels.

The ED’s plea pertained to seeking custodial interrogation of the Minister for detailed interrogation.

Counsel for the Minister and Rajya Sabha MP N R Elango argued that the Minister should be released on interim bail till the disposal of his bail petition, which was opposed by the ED stating that his judicial remand was right.

Citing the health condition of Mr Senthilbalaji, his counsels said he needed to undergo a bypass surgery at the earliest as advised by the doctors and prayed for a direction to shift
him to Kavery hospital from the Omandurar Government Multi Super Speciality hospital, where he was admitted at present, as per the request of the Minister’s wife.

The ED in its arguments said the Minister’s health was in good condition till yesterday and now he says he suffered chest pain.

“If he needed any medical treatment, the ED is ready to provide it and prayed for his custody for a detailed interrogation”.

After hearing detailed arguments from both the sides, the Judge earlier said she would pronounce orders on the two pleas filed by the Minister later today and that the orders on the ED’s plea seeking custodial interrogation would be pronounced tomorrow.

Later, the Court said orders on all the three petitions will be pronounced tomorrow.

Earlier, the Judge visited the hospital to ascertain the health condition of the Minister before remanding him in judicial custody till June 28.

When the ED and the Minister’s counsel made a mention of their pleas, the Judge said she had come to the hospital only to know the health condition of the Minister and asked them to come to her court to hear their pleas.
