Friends of India Society International UK (FISI UK) Celebrates Golden Jubilee in London

The Friends of India Society International UK (FISI UK) celebrated its Golden Jubilee on 28 June, 2026 at The Bhavan, London, marking 50 years of advocacy for India and the British Indian diaspora. The event opened with a warm welcome address by the FISI UK President, Madhuresh Mishra, who reflected on the organisation’s founding spirit and its continued relevance in the evolving India–UK partnership.

The celebration brought together parliamentarians, peers, community leaders, and long-standing supporters. Distinguished attendees included Lord Rami Ranger, Virendra Sharma, Navendu Mishra MP, Lord Uday Nagaraju, Dr M. N. Nandakumara, and Deputy High Commissioner, Kartik Pande. Founding members and senior former office bearers were honoured for their contributions to FISI UK’s legacy.

Over the past five decades, FISI UK has championed democratic values, strengthened India–UK ties, and provided a constructive voice for the British Indian community. The Golden Jubilee highlighted this legacy while setting the stage for the organisation’s next chapter.

The keynote address was delivered by Manoj Ladwa, Founder and Chairman of the India Global Forum. In his speech, he reflected on FISI UK’s five-decade journey and its contribution, while outlining a forward-looking vision for the organisation’s evolving role in strengthening diaspora engagement.

The evening featured the launch of FISI UK’s Golden Jubilee magazine, a strategic panel discussion on the diaspora’s voice, and the unveiling of SMRITI, a new initiative preserving the legacy of Indian trailblazers in Britain.

The celebrations concluded with the Golden Jubilee Awards, honouring contributions across youth leadership, community service, cultural ambassadorship, Friend of India, and lifetime achievement.

FISI UK looks ahead with renewed purpose to deepen India–UK ties and amplify the diaspora’s voice.
