A 24-year-old Kiran, belonging in the Palakkad district of Kerala, was beaten to death with a cricket bat and an iron pipe, by his employer, a 45-year-old Anandraj, a native of Tamil Nadu. Anandraj, who has been arrested by the police runs a manufacturing unit that makes sweet corn preparation machines and carts.
Anandraj assaulted Kiran on Tuesday, when he found the victim with his 19-year-old daughter at his residence in Yelahanka. Anandraj came across the fact that his employee at the manufacturing unit, Kiran, was in a romantic relationship with his daughter. On Tuesday, Anandraj and his wife went out of their home, telling their daughter that they would be away for the day. But the parents returned within a few hours and saw their daughter with Kiran in a room.
Following this, Anandraj sent his daughter to a relative’s house, in Chikkaballapur, and allegedly assaulted Kiran with a cricket bat and an iron pipe. Beaten, Kiran sustained several injuries and collapsed. Anandraj took Kiran to a nearby hospital after this, where the doctors declared him to be ‘brought dead’.
Upon arresting Anandraj and following a preliminary investigation, police said how findings indicated that the murder was intentional. The police are also investigating whether there was someone else present at the crime site, during the time when Kiran was being assaulted.
In the meantime, Kiran’s cousin, Prasad, alleged that Anandraj had planned to murder Kiran beforehand, and had sent Kiran’s brother to Uttar Pradesh on a delivery assignment, making sure that he was not present when Kiran was attacked.
While further investigation in the matter is underway, the Yelahanka police have filed a murder case against Anandraj.
