New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday denied reports claiming that it had sought details regarding Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) stock positions at international airports in view of the prevailing geopolitical situation in West Asia.
In an official statement, the AAI clarified that it has neither formally nor informally asked any airport operator to furnish information about fuel inventories or projected fuel requirements.
The authority described such reports as “false and factually incorrect,” dismissing suggestions that it had initiated any communication concerning ATF stocks.
The clarification comes amid heightened tensions in parts of West Asia, which have prompted concerns in sections of the media about possible disruptions to aviation fuel supplies and flight operations.
However, AAI emphasised that it functions strictly within its defined mandate and does not exercise oversight over fuel inventories.
“AAI is an airport operator and navigation service provider. It does not monitor or regulate fuel stocks at airports,” according to the statement, which underscored the delineation of responsibilities within the aviation sector.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining safe and efficient airport operations, the AAI said it remains focused on the secure management of airport infrastructure and air navigation services across the country.
The authority also advised media outlets and the public against circulating unverified information, stressing the need for accuracy in reporting, particularly during sensitive geopolitical developments.
With this clarification, the AAI sought to dispel speculation and reassure stakeholders about the continuity of aviation operations.
