Bathinda: While the mystery of the martyrdom of four jawans in the early hours of Wednesday firing at Bathinda Military Station in Punjab was yet to be resolved when one more jawan died of bullet injuries at around 4:30 pm yesterday.

An army spokesman said on Thursday that the constable was on sentry duty with his service weapon. One weapon’s hollow and cartridge box have been recovered from the constable. The bullet wound was near the right temporal region. He was immediately rushed to the military hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

The spokesman said that the constable had returned to the Military Station from leave on April 11. The case reportedly appears to be an attempt to suicide. He clarified that it has nothing to do with the incident that took place at the military station at 04:30 am.
