Badminton stars ready to shine at 38th National Games in Dehradun

Dehradun: The much-awaited badminton matches of the 38th National Games are set to begin on Wednesday, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Parade Ground, here.

With the competition running until February 4, the event promises a week of high-stakes action as India’s top badminton talent come together to compete for national glory.

Participants from Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh will compete in the championship.

This year, several medalists from the 37th National Games will also take the stage, including Aditi Bhatt from Uttarakhand, Nitin, Shikha Gautam, and Ashwini Bhatt from Karnataka, Saurabh Verma from Madhya Pradesh, Simran Singhi from Maharashtra, and Sheikh Gouse from Andhra Pradesh.

The badminton championship will feature both team and individual categories, including exciting matches in men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

During the first four days, there will be team events, with five teams each in the men’s and women’s categories. Two teams will play five matches against each other, consisting of three singles and two doubles, with different players from each team participating in these events.

Badminton holds significant importance in Uttarakhand, and is a popular sport in the state. The state has produced top badminton players who have represented India in international competitions, bringing pride to the region.
