Bengal rape-murder: Cease work of docs enters 16th day

Kolkata: Cease work resorted by the junior medics at the RG Kar Hospital entered the 16th day on Saturday, which affected medical services across the government owned hospitals in West Bengal, official sources said.

The medics on Saturday attended a general body meeting to assess the Supreme Court appeal to resume work and deployment of CISF at the trouble hospital as we see the progress of the ongoing CBI probe and decide upon their future course of action.

The medics would take part in a mass convention later today. The medics said they have not noticed any visible progress of the CBI probe since August 14 following a Calcutta High Court order on August 13, transferring the case from Kolkata Police.

A 10-member delegation of medics visited the CBI office on Friday were informed that the federal agency could not disclose any details of the case due to the court-monitored investigation.

The senior doctors have been attending to patients at the emergency services both in emergencies as well as the OPDs at the government hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police handed the case diary and all documents of the financial alleged irregularities at the RG Kar Hospital’s former principal, Sandip Ghosh, to the CBI as per Friday’s

Calcutta HC order.

The App Cab drivers and operators on Saturday assembled at the Rash Behari Avenue in the busy south Kolkata crossing to rally from there to Esplanade seeking justice for the rape and murder of the lady medic at the RG Kar Hospital on August 9.
