BJP wins the Chandigarh mayor elections

Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Chandigarh mayor elections on Tuesday by defeating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-Congress alliance.

The mayor polls were the first clash between the BJP and the India alliance before the Lok Sabha elections.

BJP candidate Manoj Kumar secured victory by defeating AAP+ Congress candidate Kuldeep Kumar by a margin of 16 votes.

AAP+ Congress received 12 votes, while 8 votes were rejected.

35 councilors and MP Kirron Kher cast their votes for Chandigarh mayor.

Total Votes: 36

AAP = 13

CONG = 07

BJP = 14+1 = 15 votes (1 vote for MP Kiron Kher)

SAD = 01 vote
