BJP’s road show : PM accorded rousing reception, greets party cadres by waving hands

Chennai: An enthusiastic Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a short visit to the city to unveil and lay foundation for various projects, was accorded a rousing and enthusiastic reception by a large number of BJP workers.

Mr Modi greeted the BJP workers who had lined up on the road to greet him.

BJP Tamil Nadu unit chief K Annamalai was not part of today’s events as he is in Karnataka to attend BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, though he ensured that Mr Modi was accorded a grand reception to him.

While proceeding to Dr MGR Central Railway Station (to flag off the Vande Bharat train between Chennai and Coimbatore), from INS Adyar–a distance of about 3-4 km–Mr Modi, who was seen waving his hands and accepted the people’s grand reception with folded hands in Sivananda Salai, where the BJP organised a grand road show.

The roads were tastefully decorated all along the route, by erecting plantain trees, as flex banners and festoons dotted the stretch from INS Adyar to the Railway Station.

A giant idol of Elephant was also erected as part of welcoming the Prime Minister, as BJP workers and a large number of people showered flower petals on the car in which Mr Modi was travelling.

AT INS Adyar, a large number of women accorded Prime Minister with the traditional ‘Poorna Kumbham’ and released colourful balloons with the slogan “Welcome Prime Minister, Welcome Modi”, even as a large number of people, including BJP workers,
carrying party flags, banners and his portraits, lined up on both sides of the road to greet him.

The entire route travelled by the Prime Minister was tastefully decorated and he was treated to an array of cultural events. Apart from beating of drums, a mega Bharatanatyam display by hundreds of school girls, various traditional folk dances of Tamil Nadu, including
Karakattam, Oyilattam, Mayilattam, Poikkal Kuthrai were organised to greet the Prime Minister at the Swami Sivananda Salai.

A smiling Mr Modi responded by waving his hands to the enthusiastic crowed.

Without coming out of the car, a smiling Prime Minister greeted tens and hundreds of BJP workers, including women, and the public by waving his hands.
