Darjeeling: BJP Darjeeling Lok Sabha member Raju Bista on Friday visited the Indo-Bangladesh Border Outpost 132BN, BOP Karzigach situated in West Bengal’s North Dijanpur district to express his solidarity with the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans.

“I visited Chopra block of North Dinajpur District under Darjeeling Parliamentary Constituency to show my solidarity and support following the political disturbances in Bangladesh, and the continued skirmishes along the border,” Bista said in a statement.

He interacted with the BSF jawans and said “the forces have been working tirelessly in most difficult and demanding circumstances, geographical and weather conditions to keep our borders and country safe”.

“It is the credit of our BSF officers and jawans, that despite massive political disturbances in Bangladesh, the Indian citizens feel safe and protected. These brave men and women, who are stationed at the frontlines of our border are our first line of defence, and I applaud their selflessness, courage and dedication towards serving the interests of our nation. They have set a new benchmark for professionalism in dealing with the border issues,” the BJP MP said.

“Despite their hard work, I am sorry to note that Hon’ble West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other TMC leaders have continued to attack and vilify the Border Security Forces. On one hand, some individuals in her administration have been actively providing tactical support to the illegal infiltrators and assisting them with acquiring Indian documents like Aadhar, Ration Card, Voters ID and

Passport. On the other, she continues to blame BSF, with an intention of lowering their morale,” he said.

“I want to ask Mamata Banerjee ji, what action have you taken against your party leaders, police and administrative officers, who have been actively providing support to illegal infiltrators? What action has your government taken to prevent misuse of state machinery that assists and shelters illegal immigrants and Rohingyas?,”

Bista said “it is the unwavering commitment and dedication of our BSF, SSB and Army jawans that our nation is safe.”

“While, TMC and the WB Government may be against BSF, as it hurts their politics of “imported vote bank,” the people of West Bengal firmly stand behind our jawans, as has been made apparent by the good people of Sukdevpur in Kaliachak 3 Block, Malda recently. Similarly, people from across West Bengal will stand with and support our BSF Jawans and others who are keeping our nation safe,” the BJP leader said.

“In such challenging times, the strength of our security forces is keeping our citizens safe. We all owe a great debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifices, and we will continue to support them in every possible way,” the BJP’s two-time MP said.
