Srinagar: Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday averted a major tragedy when they recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Jammu Kashmir’s Handwara village, officials said.

They said a Road Opening Party (ROP) of BSF detected an IED early in the morning in the general area of Bhattpura village near a culvert on Handwara-Naogaon highway.

Had the IED not been recovered it would have caused a major tragedy, they added.
