Goa Chronicle: Tell us about the role of start-ups in this space of the textile industry?
Reommerce: Entrepreneurship has an important role in designing and implementing sustainable products. The role of start-ups should be clear about narrowing down the gaps in the existing model of practices. About more than 50% of textile waste is incarcerated in landfills, maybe not today, not tomorrow but there will be one sunrise where we won’t be having a green future and have to accept the harsh truth. This is high time we solve old problems with the latest and tech-driven solutions better than young minds. There is a need to develop scalable and profitable business models to protect the massive environmental issue created by urbanization. Start-ups operating in the space of the textile industry can bring the much-awaited change in the field of sustainability. They can bring awareness related to issues that are not visible to the naked eye but can affect the whole body tomorrow. For start-ups operating in this space, creating a community of members about CSR and sustainability practices is essential.
