Case registered against Maha police for violation of code of conduct

Mumbai: A case of violation of the code of conduct has been registered against police Constable Ganesh Ashok Shinde for posting the photo of his postal ballot paper on his social media handle, Balasaheb Vakchoure, Election Returning Officer of Malabar Hill Vidhan Sabha Constituency in Mumbai district, said on Saturday.

Shinde, after registering his vote for Ashti Vidhan Sabha Constituency, District Beed through postal ballot paper, took a photo of the ballot paper in his cell phone and made it viral on social media.

A case has been registered against him for disobeying the legal order and breaching the confidentiality of voting for disobeying the legal order due to posting the photo of the postal ballot paper on social media.

In Malabar Hill Constituency, Wilson College, Netaji Subhashchandra Road, Girgaon Chowpatty, Charni Road, Mumbai has set up a Facilitation Center for postal voting for officers and employees of the Police Department.

The said incident took place at polling station number three in this center.

All the voters were advised that the use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited at the polling station and the voters should vote in complete privacy while casting their vote, and after voting, fill the ballot paper and Form 13A in the enclosed envelope and drop the said envelope in a closed state only in the ballot box kept in the polling booth. This information was given by polling center president Prasanna Madhusudan Tambe.

Shinde has registered a case in Gadevi Police Station, Mumbai, for violating the confidentiality of ballot papers, a statement added.
