Congress candidate leads at end of 2nd round at Sagardighi by-poll counting

Kolkata: Left supported Congress candidate Bayron Biswas.has increased his lead further by over 2080 votes to his nearest TMC rival Debashish Banerjee at the Sagardighi by-poll

in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district as trend available at the end of 2nd round of counting, official sources said on Thursday.

BJP candidate Dilip Saha is trailing to third as per official data available at 10 am.

Over 73 per cent of voters had turnout in the by-election, which was held on February 27 last.

Sources said about 16 rounds of votes to be counted for the results after about over 73 per cent voters of the 2.5 electorate took part in the voting.

State ruling TMC had been winning the Sagardighi seat since 2011.

The bypoll was necessitated after TMC MLA and state minister Subrata Saha died in December last year.
