Margao: The Congress cornered the BJP-led government over the community transmission concern in Mangor Hill in Vasco, Goa.

Former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition (LOO) Digambar Kamat told media, “I hope Mangor Hill is not the tip of the Iceberg. The Goa government must immediately release white Paper on COVID-19 situation in the state and maintain complete transparency in the COVID-19 testing protocol. It should also expedite community testing and explore expert opinion on herd immunity with social awareness.

Former President of the Congress in Goa and MLA of the Navelim constituency, Luizinho Faleiro, expressed, “Goa is witnessing community transmission as reported in Mangor Hill area. The Goa government must work hard & do everything possible to contain spread of the virus. It must act appropriately and strategically without delay as people’s lives are most precious.”

The Green Zone Goa has today reported 47 positive COVID-19 cases. 42 reported at Mangor Hill, Vasco. Two more reported were travellers who had returned to Goa from Dubai. Two were Goans who returned from Mumbai and one from a Goan resident who returned from Hyderabad.

While the Goa Health Minister continues to term it as a community transmission, Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has denied it is a community transmission and called it a local transmission. Though, interestingly he has not told the media what is the difference between a community and local transmission, especially when one location in the state has reported 42 cases in a day and six cases two days ago,
