Raipur/Mumbai: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Sunday said that a resolution was made in party convention at Raipur that the Congress party will stand firmly with the farmers.

Mr Patole was speaking on the Agriculture Resolution presented at the Congress General Conference in Raipur on the day of the closing ceremony.

He said that, farmers have been neglected since the Bharatiya Janata Party government came to the centre. BJP’s policies are anti-farmer and agricultural materials, fertilizers have become expensive and agricultural produce does not get guaranteed price. Due to the inability to afford farming, farmer suicides have increased.

Due to the Bharatiya Janata Party government, the condition of agriculture has become miserable and the country’s food provider is being destroyed,he charged.

Mr Patole further said that the BJP is trying to make India a farmer-free India. The BJP government at the center brought three black agricultural laws to end agriculture and farmers by depriving the food provider.

For the first time in the history of independent India, there was a year-long farmers’ movement on the borders of Delhi. 700 farmers were martyred in this agitation, but the Prime Minister did not go to talk to the protesting farmers who were at a call distance from Delhi. Farmers were insulted by calling them terrorists, naxalites, agitators. The Prime Minister also insulted the farmers as agitators while speaking in Parliament.

MP Rahulji Gandhi walked 3500 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. In this walk, he learned about the problems, pains and sufferings of the farmers. Farmers should not commit suicide, Congress party stands firmly behind farmers,he added.
