Hyderabad: Telangana High Court Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan has issued an order to conduct a SIT investigation under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court on the purchase of four TRS MLAs.
The Chief justice while hearing the Writ Appeal against the Single Judge order in the TRS MLA poaching case on Tuesday delivered the following order while disposing of the Writ Appeal.
The learned Single Judge shall monitor the SIT investigation. The SIT shall continue with the investigation headed by Hyderabad City Police Commissioner.
The SIT shall submit the progress of the investigation in a sealed cover to the learned single judge by November 29, 2022. The SIT shall not disclose the progress of the Investigation to any authority as well as Media regarding the progress of the investigation of the case, the CP of the police shall take responsibility. The SIT shall not disclose the progress of the investigation to political & Executive (CM office) authorities.
The learned senior counsel representing the State regretted the leakage of details of the investigation & CD release during the Chief Minister press meeting, and assured that it will not be repeated, the Chief Justice said in his order.
In a statement here, while welcoming High Court order, Telangana unit BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, MP said that It was heartening that the Chief Justice of the State High Court has issued an order to conduct a SIT investigation under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court on the purchase of 4 MLAs.
He said that the BJP’s opinion was that the SIT investigation should be conducted under the supervision of the sitting judge. With the orders of the High Court, there is a possibility that the investigation will be conducted transparently.
Sanjay said that the TRS government was conspiring to damage the image of BJP.
“ We have faith in the High Court . We are confident that the facts will come to light, the conspirators behind the purchase of MLAs will be revealed and the culprits will be punished accordingly”, he added.
In another statement, state BJP official spokesperson Ms Rachana Reddy said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was happy and resultantly grateful to the High Court for protecting the integrity and transparency of the investigation into the farmhouse poaching fiasco, by ordering that the SIT investigation would be directly monitored by the Single Judge.
She said that the High Court expressed displeasure about the manner in which the investigation was publicised through the Chief Minister’s press meet, the same ought to be confidential to protect transparency and fairness.
As part of the investigation by SIT under the monitoring aegis of the HC, all information, incriminating evidence documents would be submitted to the HC Single Judge in a sealed cover.
While the State Counsel expressed ‘regret’ at the Press meet and the manner in which the investigation was handled, he assured the court that this mishap would never be repeated and the same was recorded, she said.
Pursuant to which the High court also ordered that there would be no selective leakages to the media, authorities, executive including CMO and others. All information would only be submitted to the Judge in a sealed envelope by November 29, she added.
