Covid-19 : India logs 5,335 fresh cases, 13 more deaths

New Delhi: India recorded a single-day jump of 5,335 fresh cases of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 25,587, as per the latest update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

The single day spike in Covid-19 cases have crossed 5,000 for the first time since September, 2022.

The death toll has risen to 5,30,929 with the addition of 13 more fatalities. Two deaths each were reported from Karnataka and Maharashtra, one each from Kerala and Punjab, and seven reconciled by Kerala.

As many as 2,826 patients recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours. The total number of people who have recuperated from the disease stand at 4.41 crore (4,41,82,538).

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.32 percent while the weekly positivity was pegged at 2.89 per cent.

The Ministry said, 1,993 Covid vaccine doses were administered during the last 24 hours under the nationwide vaccination drive.

220.66 cr Total Vaccine doses (95.21 cr Second Dose and 22.87 cr Precaution Dose) have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, 92.23 cr Total Tests have been conducted so far; 1,60,742 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours as per Ministry data.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s Covid-19 positivity rate breached the 25 per cent mark on Wednesday as the city recorded 509 fresh cases in a single day. The positivity rate stood at 26.54 per cent, the highest in nearly 15 months.
