Gaza: The death toll in the Gaza Strip from Israeli strikes has exceeded 2,200, while more than 8,700 people have been injured, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Saturday.

“The death toll from Israeli aggression has reached 2,215 and 8,714 people have been injured,” the health ministry said on social media.

On October 7, Palestinian movement Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip, prompting Israel to declare a state of war the following day and launch retaliatory strikes. On October 9, Israel ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, cutting off supplies of water, food and fuel. Israel has reported over 1,000 deaths as a result of the escalation.
