New Delhi: Ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly election, the Congress on Thursday launched ‘Mehngai Mukt Yojana’ under which the party promises gas cylinder at Rs 500, free electricity upto 300 units and free ration kit.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC here, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy along with Delhi Congress Chief Devendra Yadav said, “Farmers’ debt has been a big issue in Telangana, but the Congress government had waived off debts of more than 25 lakh farmers amounting to Rs 21,000 crore within a year”.

He further added that the Telangana government had provided more than 55,000 government jobs in 1 year; women have been provided free bus facility, gas cylinders are being provided for Rs 500 and 200 units of free electricity is being provided.

While urging the people of Delhi to vote for the Congress, Reddy said, “We have done it in Telangana, so I want to tell the people of Delhi that we will do it here also as Congress does what it says”.

Hailing the 15 years rule of Sheila Dikshit, Revanth Reddy said, “Many development works were carried out in Delhi during Sheila ji’s tenure as Chief Minister. But there is no difference between Modi ji and Kejriwal because both of them only lied to the people. The people of Delhi gave many opportunities to Modi and Kejriwal but they did not do any work”.

Meanwhile, Devendra Yadav said, “On the lines of Bharat Jodo Yatra by Rahul Gandhi, we undertook a month-long Delhi Yatra and during this we met people and came to know about their issues and problems and we have come up with five guarantees for Delhi.

“When our government will be formed, in our first cabinet meeting we will not only pass these five guarantees but also implement them,” Yadav said.

He added that under the free ration kit, the party promises to give five kilo rice, two kilo sugar, one litre edible oil, six kilo pulses and 250 gram tea to one family.

Earlier, the Congress had promised Pyari Didi, Jeevan Rakshak and Yuva Udaan schemes.

Voting for the 70-member Delhi assembly will take place on February 5 while the counting of votes will be on 8th February.
