Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a strong warning against any attempt to disturb law and order or communal harmony in the state, stating clearly that any form of public disorder or attempts to vitiate the atmosphere during festivals will not be tolerated.
He directed that all such incidents be dealt with a zero-tolerance approach and the strictest action be taken against those responsible.
He instructed officials to ensure peace, security, and discipline under all circumstances, emphasiing that negligence at any level will not be accepted.
He also directed that religious events must adhere strictly to traditional formats, and no new practices should be permitted.
During a high-level review meeting held via video conferencing on late Wednesday night, the Chief Minister reviewed preparations in view of Chaitra Navratri beginning Thursday, Alvida Namaz on March 20, and Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21.
He instructed all Divisional Commissioners, District Magistrates, and Police Chiefs to work with sensitivity and coordination to ensure a peaceful environment.
The Chief Minister stated that in view of the large number of devotees expected at Devi temples during Chaitra Navratri, adequate arrangements must be ensured for security, cleanliness, crowd management, drinking water, lighting, and healthcare services.
He added, “Extra vigilance should be maintained at major temples and crowded places.”
Taking cognizance of recent criminal incidents in Badaun, Moradabad, Rampur, Ghaziabad, Jalaun, Gorakhpur, Agra, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj, the Chief Minister sought detailed action reports from concerned officials.
He asserted that even a single incident of crime can disturb the entire social atmosphere, and therefore every complaint and incident must be taken seriously. Strict action must be ensured against offenders.
Referring to chain-snatching incidents, he directed continuous patrolling by PRV-112 vehicles. He clearly stated that criminals must fear the police uniform.
Referring to Supreme Court guidelines, the Chief Minister said, “Loudspeaker volumes at religious places must remain within prescribed limits, failing which strict removal action should be taken.”
Expressing concern over bike stunts, he directed that such activities be stopped immediately.
Regarding LPG supply, the Chief Minister said that despite international circumstances, the public should not face any inconvenience.
He added, “Strict vigilance must be maintained against artificial shortages, hoarding, and black marketing, and stringent action must be taken against offenders.” He also directed that public grievances be addressed promptly and sensitively.
In view of the proposed visit of the President to Ayodhya and Mathura-Vrindavan, the Chief Minister instructed strict compliance with protocol. Concerned District Magistrates briefed about the preparations.
Prior to the meeting, the Director General of Police informed that the police force is fully alert to ensure the peaceful conduct of Chaitra Navratri, Eid-ul-Fitr, and the upcoming Shri Ram Navami, and that foot patrolling has been intensified.
The meeting, conducted via video conferencing, was attended by all Divisional Commissioners, District Magistrates, Additional Director Generals of Police (Zones), Police Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police (Ranges), Senior Superintendents of Police/Superintendents of Police, and other senior officials at the state level.
