Thiruvananthapuram: In an unprecedented development following the face-off with the Chief Minister, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan called a press conference at Raj Bhavan on Monday.
“The Governor wishes to share with the media, certain video clippings and documents tomorrow,” a message from the Raj Bhavan said on Sunday night.
Earlier, the Governor told newspersons on Sunday that he will produce all letters tomorrow, which the Chief Minister wrote to him. He alleged that the Kerala Police did not register a case in connection with an attack against him three years ago.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan holding the portfolio of Home Department was involved in the matter of police inaction in this regard, he added.
The Chief Minister directed the police to not to report it, the Governor said.
On Saturday, Arif Mohammed Khan alleged that there is an attempt to demean the Governor’s office. He said he was happy to see that the Chief Minister came out openly on issues raised by him.
He said this while responding to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s criticism that the Governor’s statements does not befit the position he holds.
The Governor said “You are playing with every trick to pressure and frighten him.”
The war of words erupted between the Chief Minister and the Governor over the appointment of Priya Varghese, wife of chief minister’s private secretary KK Ragesh, as associate professor in Malayalam language in the Kannur University.
“All his allegations are baseless. How can anyone say like this,” the Chief Minister on Friday lashed out at the Governor while responding to his criticism against the alleged nepotism in appointments in the state universities.
The Chief Minister said “This is utter nonsense. Who gave the authority to him to respond such a way on such matters including appointment issues and erection of publicity materials in university campuses as part of campus politics,” he added.
