New Delhi: The Delhi Police today detained five Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly attempting to enter the Red Fort premises without proper authorization.

All five are believed to be illegal immigrants residing and working as labourers in the national capital.

According to police officials, the age of detained individuals are between 20 and 25 years. The individuals were intercepted by security personnel during a routine check near the Red Fort.

Upon verification, they failed to produce valid Indian identification documents and were found in possession of Bangladeshi documents.

While no suspicious material was recovered from them, the police are currently interrogating the men and verifying their background.

Security around Red Fort has been beefed up in the run-up to Independence Day.
