For the first time, Foxconn, which is the largest electronic contractor company, manufacturing 70 percent of the iPhones being supplied in the world, has received an order to manufacture air pods. Air pods are currently manufactured in China, but now, they will be made in India. As per news agency Roberts, Foxconn is about to set up a new plant worth 200 million USD or 1655 crore rupees, in Telangana, to manufacture air pods.

An investment of 700 million USD will be made by Foxconn in India, and this amount will be helpful to shift production units from China to India. Plants will be set up in Gujarat, Telangana, and Karnataka. According to the company’s plan, a total of 4 lakh jobs will be produced across the 3 states after these plants are set up. Currently Apple’s iPhones and other products are being manufactured in Washington and Beijing, and from 2025, iPhone production will take place only in India.

Foxconn has announced the setup of a 36000-crore plant with Vedanta in Gujarat, and has also said that indirect investments worth 66000-crores will also be seen. With this, job opportunities for 2 lakh people in the state will come up. In Karnataka, the company has announced the development of a 300-acre iPhone plant, whose construction will begin by the end of 2024. This plant will be located near the Bengaluru airport. With this, more than 1 lakh people will be employed in the state, in a span of 10 years.

Along with this, the company has also tied-up with the Telangana government to establish an electronics manufacturing setup in the state, and has claimed to provide 1 lakh job opportunities here as well. Not only air pods but many other products will be manufactured in this plant, which are currently manufactured in China.
