Hyderabad: The Balapur Ganesh temple laddu fetched a record-breaking Rs 30.1 lakh during the customary auction held at Balapur on Tuesday.

The auction, a key highlight of the Ganesh Utsav, takes place annually before the Balapur Ganesh idol is taken in a grand procession to Hussainsagar Lake for immersion. This year, the successful bidder was Kolanu Shankar Reddy.

While similar auctions were conducted at various Ganesh temples in other localities, the Balapur laddu remains the most renowned and sought after. Several prominent politicians and business figures participated in the Balapur auction.

In 2023, the Balapur laddu was auctioned for Rs 27 lakh, making this year’s auction price a notable increase.

Meanwhile, another laddu auction held at Kirti Richmond Villas under the Bandlaguda Municipal limits of Rangareddy district fetched an impressive Rs 1.87 crore, surpassing last year’s price of Rs 1.26 crore by Rs 67 lakh, a significant jump that astonished attendees.
