New Delhi: The Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan will meet on Monday to review and discuss the ceasefire understanding reached during the May 10 talks, aimed at halting firing and military actions along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC).

The talks between the two officials are scheduled to be held at 12 noon.

On May 10, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that both sides will stop firing on land, air and sea from 1700 hours IST. This came following talks between the Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan, who called up his Indian counterpart on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army on Monday, while giving an update on the situation, said, “The night remained largely peaceful across Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the International Border. No incidents have been reported, marking the first calm night in recent days.”

While briefing the media on Saturday, DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai had firmly said that India will fiercely respond to any violation of the ceasefire understanding by Pakistan.

Lt Gen Ghai said today’s talks will be to discuss the “modalities that would enable the longevity of this understanding”.

Moreover, Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi gave full authority to the commanders of the Western borders during a security review meeting and gave full authority for counteraction in the kinetic domain to any violation of the understanding reached vide the DGMO talks.

Giving details about Operation Sindoor, the DGMO said that between May 7 and 10, more than 30 Pakistani army personnel were reported to have been killed in artillery and small arms firing on the Line of Control.
