Washington: Dr. Sampat Shivangi, an Indian-American physician, has been elected as an official delegate to the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee this month, media reports said. It marks the sixth consecutive election of Shivangi as a delegate.
“My nomination began as early as when President George W. Bush was nominated in New York, then-Senator John McCain, Governor Mitt Romney, and President Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020. Now again to re-elect President Donald Trump in 2024 in Milwaukee,” India-West News Desk quoted Shivangi as saying.
A lifelong Republican, he is a founding member of the Republican Indian Council and the Republican Indian National Council.As per the media statement, over the past three decades, he has effectively advocated for several Indian bills in the US Congress through extensive connections with US Senators and Congressmen.
The convention is set to officially nominate former President Donald Trump as the party’s presidential candidate for the November 5 election. reported.
