Srinagar: Security forces arrested two suspected individuals in south Kashmir’s Shopian district and recovered arms and ammunition, police said on Monday.
They said the two were arrested at a checkpoint set up by the J&K police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) Shopian, the 178 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the Army.
Upon their search, four hand grenades, two pistols, 43 live rounds, and other incriminating materials were recovered, police said.
In a post on X, police said an FIR has been registered.
“In a notable operation against terrorism, a joint naka comprising SOG Shopian, CRPF 178 BN & 34 RR, two suspected persons were arrested. Upon their search, 04 hands, 02 pistols, 43 live rounds & other incriminating materials were recovered & accordingly an FIR was registered, ” Shopian police said on X.
The police didn’t immediately disclose the identity of the arrested duo.
