New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s remark that “Congress will not allow anyone to pose a threat to Karnataka’s reputation, sovereignty or integrity”.

The Congress leader made these alleged remarks, while addressing a rally in poll-bound Karnataka on Saturday.

As per complaint, the BJP has requested the Election Commission to register an FIR against Sonia Gandhi for making such a statement.

A party delegation led by senior BJP leader and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav met the Commission in New Delhi over the issue.

” Sonia Gandhi’s remarks are ‘divisive’ in nature which is not good for the society” he said while talking to reports.

Yadav added that, “Such comments are against the sovereignty and integrity of the country… alleged that Sonia Gandhi deliberately used the word which is an anti national act”.

He also accused the Congress of making false allegations against BJP in the poll campaign.

The BJP has also attached an image of a tweet from Congress’s official Twitter handle that reads, “CPP chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji sends a strong message to 6.5 crore Kannadigas.”
