Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Industries Department has launched a new online platform to market the products of textile units under its fold, in a bid to modernise operations and expand market reach.

The platform, www.bpt.cditproject.org, developed by the Board for Public Sector Transformation (BPT) with technical support from C-DIT, will facilitate e-bidding and e-auction of textile products.

Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, who inaugurated the initiative, said the move is part of the government’s strategy to strengthen public sector undertakings (PSUs) by making them competitive, profitable, and attuned to modern market demands.

“The government’s vision is to strengthen all institutions, make them competitive and profitable. If one project is not profitable, the aim is to move forward with the next product,” the Minister said and informed that 21 state-run companies had reported profits this year.

Highlighting the diversification efforts, Rajeeve said garment manufacturing plans were also being implemented, ensuring that PSUs bring out socially relevant and economically viable products.

As part of the launch, several PSUs unveiled new value-added products. Keltron introduced eight products, including a radiant baby warmer, infant warming wrapper, Bluetooth-enabled hearing aid, smart traffic controller, enforcement camera with anti-glare technology, piezo electric vibration sensor, low-frequency ultrasonic transducer element and directional sonobuoy.

Keltron Component Complex Ltd rolled out four products – a single phase pump control panel AQUA-B50, a supercapacitor-powered jump starter, a supercapacitor-powered electric trolley and a supercapacitor-powered electric wheelchair.

Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Ltd launched five new variants of its “Thrill” body wash brand in berry fresh, soft petal rose, aloe vera, spring classic and bloom fresh fragrances.
Foam Mattings (India) Ltd introduced thin jute print carpets with latex-backed, four-side surged finish, while the Kerala State Coir Corporation unveiled “Latica,” an eco-friendly orthopaedic mattress made of natural latex and coir.

The Kerala State Coir Machinery Manufacturing Company launched four machines – an electric wheelbarrow, plastic bottle shredder, glass bottle shredder and sugarcane juice extractor.

The Handicrafts Development Corporation of Kerala brought out two new products, a Kathakali memento and a series of spice boxes designed in the shape of India, Kerala, butterfly and fish models.

The Kerala State Handloom Development Corporation launched “Sreshtam” dhoties, while CAPEX, another leading PSU, introduced six new food products including creamy cashew delight in vanilla and chocolate flavours, cashew powder, tasty syrup, fusion jam and pickle.
