Damoh (MP): Aiming straight at the centre of Congress battle formation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday mounted a sarcasm-laced assault on party President Mallikarjun Kharge by alleging that the latter despite being among the senior-most people, is being controlled by remote in a manner akin to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Addressing a public meeting in this district headquarters of election-bound Madhya Pradesh, the visiting dignitary did not name the Congress’ former head, Sonia Gandhi, while averring, “The Congress’ ‘remote habit’ simply refuses to go away. I count Kharge among my good friends but today his condition is such that he just cannot do anything and is kept in name only.”

Continuing the devastating blitzkrieg, the Prime Minister said he sometimes observes that when the Congress head “comes into the mood, when probably the remote’s battery charge is exhausted or connectivity is broken, then some positive talk emerges from his mouth.”

Modi recalled “reading somewhere” that Kharge on Tuesday mentioned the Pandavas of Mahabharata fame.

“When the remote is operational, he abuses Sanatana Dharma but when the device shuts down, he remembers the Pandavas, or, in other words, Sanatana, and said the BJP has five Pandavas. See, when he utters the truth what kind of words emerge? We are proud that we are walking along the path of the Pandavas. What can be a greater honour? ” The Prime Minister added.

“Observe the plight of the Congress, which provided an uninterrupted decadal opportunity at the Centre until 2014 by the electorate,” Modi said, adding that during the period the populace never knew what the PM was doing or saying.

“Why? That was because he had to accomplish no work. The country was being run by remote,” Modi underlined.
