Krishi Odisha to help farmers on modern crop husbandry

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government in association with Federation of India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will jointly organise three day long Krushi Odisha 2023 from February 16 next.

Official sources said the theme of this year’s event will be ‘Emerging Technology in Agriculture.

A total 212 numbers stall to be set up on different categories of agriculture and allied sectors. Various government undertaking, banks and agri entrepreneurs will participate in it.

The event will focus on subjects like production technology, agriculture mechanisation, application of ICT in agriculture, infrastructure development, marketing linkage, easy access to credit, utilisation of improved agriculture inputs and their distributions and establishment of agriculture enterprises.

The Krushi Odisha will also enable farmers with all information about modern crop husbandry and build their self confidence for adoption.

Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment minister Ranendra Pratap Swain said that, “We have organised regional Krushi Mela in four places like Sambalpur, Baripada, Berhampur and Koraput.

It has been decided to organise such types of mela at every district of the state, he said adding these Mela were conducted successfully benefiting the farmers immensely.

The government has also earmarked a special fund for this purpose and planning also planning to organise Krushi Mela at block level.”

The government, Swain said, has also planned for a special session on Millet where experts from international agencies will participate.

Special session of horticulture, Fisheries and Animal resources will also be held.

The state government expected over 1500 farmers from across the state including female farmers. Farmers will participate to know about the recent technology adoption in agriculture.

Official sources said the government had successfully introduced cage culture at Hirakud reservoir which is considered as intensive aquaculture.

Biofloc fish farming is the most popular scheme which has genetically improved fish also being developed at Fish Farm of Kaushalayganga.

The Government is now ready to extend subsidies to women SHG of the state for fish Farming.’ The minister said.
