Bengaluru: As India eagerly awaits the results of the 18th Lok Sabha elections, JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy exuded confidence, foreseeing a resounding victory for his party and their formidable allies, the BJP, in Karnataka.

“We are going to win comfortably. All three candidates of our party will win,” Kumaraswamy confidently declared to the reporters on Tuesday. His optimism wasn’t confined to his party; he also foresaw a triumph for their coalition partners. “Not only our candidates, but our BJP friends will also secure a minimum of 20 seats,” he asserted.

This election season has seen JD(S) and BJP joining forces in Karnataka, contesting the 2024 general elections as a united front. According to the seat-sharing arrangement within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), BJP is contesting 25 seats while JD(S) is fielding candidates in three out of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.

The exit polls released on June 1 have reinforced Kumaraswamy’s confidence. They predict a strong performance for the BJP-led NDA in the Congress-ruled state, with a dismal forecast for Congress in these crucial elections.
