Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron has instructed his team to study the situation in each electoral district of the country in order to find alliances to counter the far-right National Rally party that preliminary wins the first round of snap parliamentary elections, French broadcaster BFMTV reported on Sunday.
National Rally is leading in the first round of elections with 34.2%, followed by the left-wing New Popular Front alliance with 29.1% and Macron’s centrist coalition with 21.5%, according to the first exit polls.
Macron will reportedly hold a strategic meeting at the Elysee Palace on Monday to discuss the elections.
