Mumbai: Leaders of different political parties, including the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), have joined the Congress in Maharashtra, and more leaders are expected to join the party soon, Congress leaders said.

In the presence of state in-charge of Congress party Ramesh Chennithala and state president Nana Patole, ex-MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party and former president of Buldhana district Dhripadarao Sawle, state vice president of MNS Vitthal Lokhandkar, ex-MLA of BJP from Mukhed Deglur constituency in Nanded district Avinash Ghate, former chairman of the State Consumer Advisory Committee, Kamal Farooqui of NCP, spokesperson Umar Farooqui, VBA leader of Akola district Dr Rahman Khan, the former mayor of Balapur, Jammuseth, joined the Congress party along with hundreds of workers in a function held at Tilak Bhavan on last night.

According to the MPCC official press statement, Patole welcomed everyone to the Congress family and wished them all the best.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that people are fed up with the corrupt governance of the BJP Shinde government in the state. Inflation and unemployment have increased tremendously, and farmers and workers are suffering greatly. Farmer suicides have increased; inflation has made it difficult to live, but the coalition government in the state is not paying attention to the people’s concerns.

The ideology of the Congress party is what saves the country, and Rahul Gandhi’s role in uniting the country is the most important. Just like the Lok Sabha elections, Patole appealed that the ideology of the Congress should reach the grassroots, expressing the belief that the Congress party will win in the state as the largest party in the assembly elections as well.

All India Congress Committee General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, Legislature Party Leader Balasaheb Thorat, Former Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Opposition Leader Vijay Wadettiwar, Congress Working Committee Member, and State Working President Naseem Khan, among others, were present on this occasion.
