Militant killed as infiltration bid foiled in J&K’s Kupwara

Srinagar: Security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district by killing an unidentified militant, police said on Monday.

The bid was foiled along the Line of Control in the Jumugund area of the Keran sector in Kupwara.

“In a joint operation that commenced Sunday, the Army and Kupwara Police successfully #foiled an #infiltration attempt in Jumagund area of the Keran sector, in which one #terrorist was killed. The search operation continues,” a police post on X said.

This is the second infiltration bid that has been foiled in Kupwara district in the last four days. On October 26, five suspected militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in the Machil sector of Kupwara.

A day after the infiltration bid was foiled in the Machil sector, the Army’s Kupwara-based General Officer Commanding (GOC) 28 Mountain Division, Major General GirishKalia, said 27 militants were killed along the LoC in 10 different infiltration attempts during the last eight months in Kupwara district.
