Hyderabad: To attract private investments in Tourism projects, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, will organize the three-day first Global Tourism Investors’ Summit (GTIS) in New Delhi from May 17, 2023, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said.
Speaking after presenting a power-point presentation on the development of tourism Infrastructure in Telangana here on Thursday night, the Minister said the main objective of the GTIS is to promote the Indian travel and tourism industry as an ‘Investment Destination’ and provide a common platform for the Central/State governments and the investors’ to discuss investment possibilities in the tourism industry of India.
The Summit will allow both domestic as well as foreign potential investors to identify state-specific investment possibilities in the segment unique to that state, he said that we have asked the state governments to showcase their strengths to the international investors in a bid to invite investments for sprucing up their tourism infrastructure.
Private investments are needed in a big way to develop tourism in the country, Reddy said that we have asked the states to present their required investments for tourism development in their areas.
We are developing tourism infrastructure in the states in the country with cent percent funds from the central government, he clarified and said that the states are not necessary to spend any single paisa and if any services are extended by the states, the central would reimburse it.
Whatever funds required for central tourism projects including temple development in Telangana, the Modi government would provide and state government would execute and revenues from these projects would be enjoyed by the state, the Minister said.
Under Swadesh Darshan scheme, 76 projects of more than Rs 5,500 crore has been sanctioned across the country and develop theme based tourism circuits , he said under this scheme in Telangana state, the Tourism Ministry has sanctioned Rs 268.39 crore to take up three projects.
Kishan Reddy said the Centre has also sanctioned Rs 140.11 crore to take up three projects under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) Scheme and Rs 65.85 crore for implementing three projects under Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure Development Scheme in the state, he informed..
Under Prashad scheme, we sanctioned the project “ Development of Jogulamba Devi temple, Alampur for an amount of Rs 36.73 crore he said under this project, there will be pilgrim amenities complex and cultural haat , development of Tungabhadra ghat including floating motorable jetty and luxury 35-40 seater cruise boat.
The proposed tourist amenities complex at the famous Ramappa temple, he said only 50 percent pillars exist out of unique kakatiya sculpture 1000 pillars mandapam at the historical Ramappa temple in Warangal district and the remaining 50 percent pillars are developed by engaging well skilled sculptures from Tamil Nadu.
The historical mandam will be ready by this year and dedicated to all Telangana people, said Kishan Reddy.
We have asked the Telangana government to allocate 25 acres of land for the establishment of ‘Science City,’ the Minister said that in the project, the central government will bear the entire project cost though the state has to bear 40 percent.
The science city would benefit all educational institutions, IT, Defence and Research wings, he said that once the state government handed over the land, the project would come up.
The central government is also ready to develop ‘Tribal Museum’ in Hyderabad once the state government allocated land for it, he added.
