Missile pieces, drone debris found in various places in Himachal

Shimla/Una(HP): Pieces of wracked missiles that were destroyed by the India Army have been found in Una’s Vehra and Kangra’s Jawali, while drone debris was recovered in Damtal of Kangra district.

On the intervening night of May 9-10, at pieces of destroyed missiles fell in the fields in Pirthipur of Gagret sub-division of Una district and Bharwain area under Amb sub-division.

According to locals, a loud explosion was heard at 1.30 am in Vehra village of Bhated panchayat, about 12 km from Chintpurni. The sound of the explosion was so loud that the people of the nearby village panicked and rushed out of their homes.

Sarbjit, who lives some 25 meters away from the blast site, said he was sleeping in the courtyard of the house. At 1:30 am, there was a loud explosion in the sky and then it felt as if something had fallen in the fields.

Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that information about the suspicious metal found in Amb subdivision has been given to the higher authorities.

He told people not to panic and inform the police and administration if any such device was found nearby their houses or fields.

At the same time, the Indian Army shot down a Pakistani drone around 5 am in Majra village, adjacent to the Pathankot air base, falling under the police station Damtal located on the Punjab-Himachal border.

As soon as the information was received, police station in-charge Damtal Kalyan Singh, Punjab Police and paramilitary forces reached the spot. Army officials were immediately called. The Army took the remains of the drone with them.

Pieces of the destroyed missile have been found at three places in Jwali sub-division. However, there has been no damage.

SP Nurpur Ashok Ratan said remains of a destroyed missile has been found, and the police have been sent to the spot. Experts have also been called to the spot.
